Description

This is lead supervisory and participatory work of a physical nature involving the application of manual skills and knowledge above basic laboring in the installation, field maintenance and repair of general wastewater line collection systems and construction procedures; skill in the use of wastewater related equipment; and knowledge of departmental functions, policies, and procedures. Work requires skill in training, instructing, organizing work crews, and determining procedures to carry out assignments received through written and oral instructions. Work includes the operation of automotive equipment, specialized machines, equipment, power tools, and building maintenance and operational support equipment. An employee in this class personally participates in the work, may perform the more skilled and difficult tasks, and performs heavy manual labor, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.

Salary: $25.28 - $35.28 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License with "N" endorsement.
  • Possess a FWPCOA Wastewater Collection System Operator "C" Certification.
  • Have considerable experience in wastewater collection system construction, maintenance, or repair.
  • Have some supervisory experience.
  • Be able to prepare routine written reports of work activities.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a FWPCOA Wastewater Collection System Operator "B" Certification.
  • Have some experience using a computer, including keyboard and mouse.
  • Are able to perform simple mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Are able to work under potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Have had some experience working with sanitary sewer utilities and familiar with some sanitary sewer terminology.
