Job Summary Coordinates with physicians, physician office staff, other departments, and surgery staff when applicable to provide a patient-focused environment. Provides coordination of patient flow by following established scheduling procedures and protocols. Performs clerically assigned support activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Educates staff on casting and documentation. Assists with education on orthopedic initiatives. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Assists surgical team during operation procedure by arranging, inventorying, and maintaining sterile set up for operation and passes items as needed. Assists in preparation of surgical suite, moving patients, and in cleaning. Provides aid in exposure, homeostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out safe operation with optimal results for the patient within standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides coordination of patient flow by following established scheduling procedures and protocols.
  • Assists in performance of procedures for the surgical patient in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.
  • Competently uses the BMG information and telecommunication systems to maintain records, correspondence, and reports to facilitate timely communication and accurate documentation.
  • Communicates with staff and customers by maintaining, receiving, conveying, and recording information accurately.
  • Provides and utilizes equipment and supplies based on patient needs in a safe and adequate manner.
  • Maintains files, records, supplies, and equipment in an accessible order and current condition to assure continuous workflow.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities.
  • Completes assigned goals.
