My AmeriCorps - Home Page Iowa Legal Aid AmeriCorps Project
Service focuses on issues that most dramatically impact low-income Iowans, like preventing homelessness, maintaining health and income benefits, stopping consumer fraud, and maintaining family stability. Members assist with client services, including new client intake, research, and witness/document preparation, under the supervision of an attorney. Through outreach, members enhance relationships between Iowa Legal Aid and the local communities it serves. Members also help Iowa Legal Aid''s clients get benefits/services that allow them to be more independent, and recruit and manage volunteers that help expand service provision. Bilingual members also provide interpretation and translation services to Iowa Legal Aid clients, and translate self-help legal resources for our website and community distribution. Other skills-based members, like law, social work, and paralegal students, use their knowledge to provide holistic legal services. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
