    Job Description

    General Purpose of Job:

    Provides basic patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician. Performs various clerical and administrative duties under the direction of the Physician Practice Office Manager.

    Essential Duties:

    This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

    • Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and office staff in a professional manner.
    • Processes patients and schedules appointments/tests following established guidelines.
    • Assists in assessing the condition of the patient, and preparing the patient for the examination.
    • Reports pertinent information to appropriate personnel, and records data in the patient record.
    • Administers medication, performs diagnostic procedures/treatments in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
    • Answers phone/nurse line, and refers patient calls to the appropriate personnel.
    • Enters and posts appropriate information on patient encounter forms and department logs.
    • Maintains files, obtains appropriate authorization forms/releases. Prepares and files records.
    • Acts as trusted agent for providers ordering prescriptions by calling, faxing or electronically/sent prescriptions and refill information to designated pharmacy.
    • Maintains equipment and supplies, and operates various office and medical equipment.
    • Perform registrar duties as needed.
