Investor Onboarding Associate
  • We are partnering with an exceptional global investment organization that is expanding its Investor Operations team in Charlotte. This newly created Investor Onboarding Associate position is an exciting opportunity to join a growing function within a highly respected organization known for its people, collaborative culture, and outstanding benefits.

You’ll work directly with investors while partnering across Legal, Compliance, Fund Administration, Business Development, and other key functions to move complex onboarding processes from initial engagement through closing.

What You’ll Do
As an Investor Onboarding Associate, you will manage the end-to-end onboarding of investors into alternative investment vehicles, including both commingled funds and separately managed accounts (SMAs).
Investor Onboarding & Servicing
  • Own investor onboarding from initial kickoff through documentation, approval, funding, and close.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for investors throughout the onboarding lifecycle.
  • Coordinate subscription documentation, investor questionnaires, tax documentation, AML/KYC requirements, and other onboarding materials.
  • Establish and maintain investor, entity, and account information across internal systems and onboarding platforms.
  • Proactively track outstanding items and resolve issues that could impact closing or funding timelines.
  • Communicate directly with investors and provide a high level of service throughout the onboarding process.
  • Manage multiple concurrent investor onboarding workflows while maintaining accuracy and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Support onboarding across commingled investment funds and separately managed accounts (SMAs).
  • Navigate complex investor structures, jurisdictional considerations, and enhanced AML/KYC requirements.
  • Lead and participate in onboarding status discussions, communicating progress, dependencies, risks, and outstanding items.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Fund Administration, Business Development, Client Relations, Product, Accounting, and other operational teams.
  • Coordinate with external administrators, AML/KYC providers, onboarding vendors, and other third-party partners.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and become a trusted resource throughout the investor onboarding process.
  • Keep internal and external partners aligned and onboarding activities moving toward successful and timely closings.
Technology & Process Improvement
  • Manage workflows through digital investor subscription and onboarding platforms such as Anduin, SUBSCRIBE, Goji, or comparable systems.
  • Maintain accurate investor data across onboarding platforms, CRM systems, and downstream operational applications.
  • Maintain onboarding trackers, dashboards, status reporting, and operational metrics.
  • Provide investors and internal stakeholders with guidance on onboarding technology and digital platforms.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and potential risks within existing onboarding workflows.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors on system enhancements, integrations, data mapping, and workflow improvements.
  • Leverage technology, automation, data tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the overall onboarding experience.
  • Contribute to the continued development of scalable onboarding procedures, controls, and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degrees in Accounting, Finance or related field are highly preferred
  • Approximately 5–7 years of relevant experience preferred, although the depth and relevance of an individual’s investor onboarding experience is more important than an exact number of years.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with alternative investment onboarding processes.
  • Strong familiarity with subscription documentation and AML/KYC review processes.
  • Understanding of tax and legal considerations associated with investor onboarding.
  • Experience working directly with investors throughout the onboarding process and through fund close.
  • Background within an alternative asset manager, private equity firm, hedge fund, transfer agent, investor services team, fund onboarding team, or comparable investment environment is highly relevant.
  • Experience supporting a meaningful volume of investor onboarding activity is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with institutional investors, private investors, commingled funds, and/or SMAs.
  • Ability to independently manage an onboarding workload and take ownership of processes from start to finish.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and confidence interacting directly with investors.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, urgency, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with digital investor onboarding or subscription platforms is highly valuable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
