Our Investment Technology and Performance (ITP) group within the Investment Office (INVO) is responsible for overseeing data and technology used to manage the Public Employees'''' Retirement Fund (PERF) and Affiliate Funds and driving our CalPERS mission. The team is currently seeking two Investment Officer (IO) II or III positions to consult with and inform INVO management, Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) business units, and external vendors, recommending investment business systems and project approaches necessary to influence the success of INVO''''s investment and technology for the Private Markets Technology (PMT) team.
Duties include but are not limited to: Utilize knowledge of investment industry and specific investment functions, support the oversight of the day-to-day availability, performance, and stability of critical investment systems, including both vendor platforms and internally developed applications. Research, analyze, evaluate, and document complex investment processes and systems, preparing comprehensive analysis and written reports to ITP leadership with recommendations for changes and improvements. Assist with oversight of operational scorecards, controls, and monitoring for investment systems and service providers.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.
Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for a visa sponsorship now or in the future. CalPERS does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.
Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
This position will run until filled with cutoff dates for review with the first cutoff date April 15, 2026, followed by every 1st and 15th of the month.

The annual incentive opportunity is 0- 20% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. Permanent full-time employees who possess certification as a CFA may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
