Investment Consultant Community Development Fin

Overview

This is a hybrid role to be based in Raleigh, NC with the expectation that work time will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

First Citizens invests in community development initiatives that expand/preserve affordable housing, support small businesses, and strengthen underserved communities. This role supports the sourcing, underwriting, and closing of investments that advance both community impact and the bank''s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) commitments.

Investment Consultants work across a variety of community development products, including Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) funds, Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs), workforce housing, affordable housing preservation, and other community development investments. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced investment professionals, external fund managers, and community development partners while contributing to investments that generate both financial and social impact. The position will primarily focus on non-tax credit affordable housing investments while providing opportunities to gain experience across the full range of community development investment products.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Originations and Fund Closings - Supports the origination, underwriting, internal credit and other (CRA, Tax, Treasury) approvals and closings for community development investments with multiple fund managers, including coordination with counsel on legal review of fund documents, and tracking investment status on the equity pipeline. Underwrites and closes other CRA eligible investment products to support First Citizens' community development objectives.
• Portfolio Management Collaboration - Works with portfolio management team to update annual reviews of syndicator partners as part of credit approval process. Assists with the transfer of closed assets into the portfolio.
• Program Development - Contributes to the development and enhancement of Workforce Housing and Preservation fund procedures, investment strategies, and best practices.
• Participates in meetings, trainings (inclusive of Bank required compliance courses), and other duties or special projects as assigned by senior leadership and management team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor''s Degree and 3 years of experience in community development finance, impact investing, affordable housing, private equity funds, commercial credit, investment underwriting, real estate finance, or related fields. OR, High School Diploma or GED and 7+ years of experience in these or related areas.

Preferred Education: Masters/Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Area of Study: Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Public Policy/Planning

Preferred Area of Experience: Finance, Banking, Affordable Housing Development, Public Policy/Planning, Accounting

Preferred Qualifications: Finance, Banking, Community Development, Impact Investing, Affordable Housing, Real Estate, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Accounting, Investment Management, or related disciplines
