About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established middle-market investment banking platform seeking a Managing Director to join its M&A advisory practice. The firm advises privately held, founder-owned, and middle-market businesses on mergers & acquisitions, ownership transitions, strategic alternatives, and capital raising transactions. The Managing Director will be responsible for driving business development efforts, maintaining senior client relationships, and leading transaction execution teams. The firm has advised on hundreds of middle-market transactions across a wide range of industries and maintains a strong presence in the lower middle-market and middle-market M&A landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop new client relationships within the middle market
- Lead sell-side, buy-side, recapitalization, and capital raising engagements
- Serve as the primary advisor to business owners, executives, boards, and shareholders
- Manage transaction processes from engagement through closing
- Lead negotiation strategy, valuation discussions, and transaction structuring
- Mentor and develop Vice Presidents, Associates, Analysts, and other junior team members
- Collaborate with firm leadership to execute strategic growth initiatives
- Build and maintain referral relationships with attorneys, accountants, wealth advisors, private equity firms, and other intermediaries
Qualifications
- 10+ years of investment banking, M&A advisory, or corporate finance experience
- Current Managing Director, Director, Senior Vice President, or highly commercial Vice President ready for promotion
- Demonstrated track record of transaction execution and client relationship management
- Proven ability to originate and win new business opportunities
- Experience leading middle-market M&A transactions from pitch through close
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced credentials are a plus
