Investment Banking Analyst (M&A Advisory)

Location: Birmingham, Michigan

Overview

An established, middle-market investment bank is seeking a high-performing Analyst/Senior Analyst to join its growing M&A advisory team. This individual will play a critical role in the execution of sell-side and buy-side transactions, working closely with senior bankers and clients across a variety of industries. The role offers significant exposure to the full deal lifecycle and the opportunity to take on increased responsibility within a lean, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of M&A transactions from initial pitch through closing, including financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, and transaction structuring
  • Build and maintain complex financial models, including DCF, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions
  • Prepare high-quality client deliverables such as pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and buy-side materials
  • Conduct industry research, market mapping, and strategic analysis to support client engagements and business development efforts
  • Manage day-to-day deal processes, including coordinating diligence workflows, interacting with clients and third parties, and maintaining data rooms
  • Work closely with senior bankers on live deal execution while mentoring and overseeing junior analysts as appropriate

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, or corporate finance roles, with demonstrated M&A exposure
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skillset with the ability to operate independently on core analytical workstreams
  • Experience preparing client-facing materials and supporting the full transaction lifecycle
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical rigor, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact directly with clients and senior stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field

Expected Compensation:

Base: $70k - $115k

Bonus: 25-100%
