ABOUT THE ROLEA growing insurance organization is seeking an Investment Staff Accountant to support investment accounting and reporting activities. This role is responsible for recording, reconciling, and analyzing investment transactions, maintaining investment-related accounting records, and assisting with reporting under U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, and Statutory accounting standards. The position offers exposure to investment operations, financial reporting, and interaction with investment advisors and custodian banks
RESPONSIBILITIES- Record investment transactions and valuations within the general ledger.
- Match cash transactions to trading activity within the investment accounting system.
- Reconcile general ledger balances to supporting investment reports and schedules.
- Assist in preparing recurring and ad hoc investment accounting reports.
- Support investment reporting under U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, and Statutory accounting frameworks.
- Correspond with investment advisors, custodians, and external service providers regarding investment activity.
- Analyze investment transactions and account balances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain supporting documentation and accounting records.
- Assist with quarter-end and year-end reporting requirements.
- Support special projects and additional accounting initiatives as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Communicate issues and findings to management on a timely basis.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 1 year of investment accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to reconcile and analyze large volumes of financial data.
- Experience with investment accounting systems preferred.
- Experience with SAP General Ledger preferred.
- Insurance industry experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to work additional hours during quarterly reporting periods.
