Duties and Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Provides inventory distribution support; receives and prioritizes requests; retrieves, issues and/or delivers parts, supplies, mail and/or equipment

  • Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies, parts and/or equipment at assigned locations; receives, unloads and/or places inventory items in warehouse or storage areas; verifies condition, quantity and validity of materials received; performs inventory spot checks and identifies need for ordering or replenishment

  • Updates and maintains logs and records of inventory receipts, distribution activity and fulfillment requests; initiates requests or orders of supplies; may communicate with vendors to gather cost and availability

  • Monitors and maintains upkeep, cleanliness and safe storage of inventory items and areas; disposes of outdated or unnecessary items as approved

  • Prepares and maintains routine paperwork, receipts, purchase requisition information and reports

  • This position will be required to operate a City-owned work vehicle to retrieve equipment and travel to various work sites on a regular basis

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 1 to 3 years year experience in routine / minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical or related maintenance work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Class C Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Additional Information

Knowledge of:

  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work

  • Basic filing and record-keeping principles
