    Description

AMS seeks an Inventory Manager to own the flow and control of material across multiple facilities. You are accountable for kitting, materials consumption, and inventory control end to end, from receiving and put-away through staging kits for production, tracking what is consumed on the floor, and keeping inventory records accurate across raw materials, hardware and purchased components, consumables, work in process, and finished goods.

    Key job responsibilities

    Team Leadership and Function Ownership

    • Lead and develop the inventory and kitting team across SEA109 and BFI1, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and day-to-day priorities
    • Own the standard work, procedures, and metrics for kitting, consumption, and inventory control, and drive them consistently at both sites
    • Foster a safety-first culture and enforce material handling, storage, and equipment safety protocols

    Kitting and Bin System

    • Design and stand up the kitting and bin system at both sites from the ground up, including bin layouts, point-of-use locations, kit cart and container standards, labeling, and transaction flow
    • Build quality in by design through point-of-use presentation, error-proofing, clear identification, and first-in-first-out control, so the right material reaches the right job in the right condition
    • Run the kitting operation so complete, accurate kits are staged on time, coordinating release with the Production Planner to match the build and shipping schedule
    • Set kit accuracy and on-time delivery targets and improve the system with data as products and volumes change

    Material Availability and Consumption

    • Own material availability so the lines always have what they need, treating a line-down for missing material as a top-priority failure
    • Set and maintain reorder points, safety stock, and min and max levels tuned to usage and lead times, manage point-of-use replenishment, and drive shortage recovery with purchasing
    • Track consumption in the ERP, reconcile to work orders and bills of material, and drive down loss, miscount, and unrecorded usage
    • Report consumption and demand trends to planning and purchasing, balancing availability against inventory investment

    Inventory Control and Accuracy

    • Own inventory accuracy across raw materials, purchased components, consumables, work in process, and finished goods at both sites
    • Run the cycle count and physical inventory program, resolve discrepancies, and maintain record accuracy to target
    • Maintain storage locations, labeling, and 5S standards, and manage work-in-process and finished goods locations, including buffer, controlling aging, obsolescence, and excess
    • Partner with Buyers, the Production Planner, and Supply Chain Manager on inventory levels and long-lead coverage, and manage turns and working capital

Deviation Control, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

    • Own the identification, segregation, and disposition of material deviations, working with the Quality Manager so only accepted material reaches the floor
    • Investigate root cause and put controls in place to prevent recurrence, using deviation data to hold suppliers and internal processes accountable
    • Maintain accurate item, SKU, location, and bill-of-material data in the ERP and purchasing system, with barcoding and documentation that support traceability and ISO 9001 compliance
    • Analyze inventory and kitting metrics such as record accuracy, kit fill rate, stockouts, variance, and turns, and lead continuous improvement of the function

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
