Job Description:

Main Purpose of the Role

The Stockroom Clerk is responsible for maintaining stock items in all aspects, including expediting stock orders, handling vendor questions, and resolving receiving discrepancies. Upon receipt, the Stockroom Clerk checks receiver sheets for accuracy and stores parts in the proper location. The majority of the role involves using computer applications. Clerks maintain inventory integrity through cycle counting and correcting inventory data as needed. The maintenance department relies on the stockroom's ability to maintain stock items and repairs. Stockroom Clerks are responsible for accurately maintaining all data in the Maximo system.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily vendor contact to place orders, expedite critical items, and follow up on open stock orders
  • Review and investigate receiving discrepancies for stock items
  • Issue, receive, and store stock items
  • Perform daily cycle counting to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Work with Engineering and Maintenance to set up new items
  • Process repair items and maintain a separate warehouse for repairable items
  • Obtain RA# (Return Authorization) from vendors, handle related paperwork, and properly package/identify items for shipping
  • Maintain the stockroom in a neat, organized, and ready condition at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor to meet department goals
  • Receive, record, and store incoming materials
  • Provide financial reports for plant personnel; assist Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancies; supply repair parts for PMs, shutdowns, etc.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping and control of inventory (accuracy is critical errors could result in improper issuance or downtime due to unavailable repair parts)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, and Client regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines

Education

High School Diploma / GED, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience/Background

  • Strong attention to detail, with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy required approximately 80% of the role involves using desktop/network applications such as Maximo
  • Ability to work with a complex computer-based inventory accounting system, from data entry to daily operations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills for investigating order discrepancies and expediting rush/outstanding orders
  • Ability to quickly locate needed stock items with minimal information
  • Ability to research and investigate inventory discrepancies and interpret inventory positioning efficiently
