Position Summary
The Girls Flag Football Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the girls flag football program, as well as officiating contests. This position ensures a safe, organized, and positive environment for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and player development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Administration
- Supervise all girls flag football games.
- Coordinate league schedules, game-day operations, and facility usage.
- Ensure all program activities comply with district policies.
- Assist with preseason planning, team assignments, and equipment distribution.
Game Day Operations
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to the first game to inspect fields and equipment for safety.
- Assist another official in officiating each game.
- Set up and break down game-day equipment, including field markers, footballs, scoreboards, and other necessary materials.
- Ensure games begin and end on schedule.
- Monitor weather conditions and implement emergency procedures when necessary.
- Resolve operational issues as they arise.
Supervision
- Provide leadership and support to coaches, officials, volunteers, and participants.
- Monitor coach and player conduct to ensure adherence to league rules and codes of conduct.
- Address disciplinary concerns fairly and professionally.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during games.
Safety and Risk Management
- Promote a safe playing environment by enforcing safety rules and proper playing techniques.
- Respond appropriately to injuries and emergency situations.
- Ensure first aid supplies and emergency action plans are readily available.
- Report accidents, injuries, and incidents according to district procedures.
Communication
- Communicate schedules, updates, and program information with parents and participants.
- Work collaboratively with the athletic directors, Director of Community Relationships and Engagement, and facility personnel.
- Address parent and participant concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Equipment Management
- Maintain inventory of footballs, flags, belts, cones, jerseys, and other program equipment.
- Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained, and replaced as needed.
- Report damaged or missing equipment.
Sportsmanship and Player Development
- Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Encourage teamwork, respect, integrity, and positive sportsmanship.
- Support coaches in creating a positive learning experience focused on skill development and enjoyment.
Administrative Responsibilities.
- Assist with registration and roster verification when needed.
- Update the intramural website with schedules and scores weekly.
- Order championship t-shirts for winning team
- Make recommendations for program improvements.
- Attend one preseason meeting and one postseason meeting.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of flag football rules (will be provided to the preferred candidate).
- Previous experience supervising youth or school athletic programs preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work weekends and flexible hours during the season.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and transport athletic equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Demonstrate sufficient mobility to supervise practices and games effectively.
