Position Description

Rosemead School of Psychology is searching for an experienced psychologist to serve as the BCC Internship Training Director. The BCC operates a doctoral level training program with approximately 75 trainees, including an APA-accredited doctoral internship and master's and doctoral-level practicums, all of whom serve both the university and clients from the broader Southern California community. The Internship Training Director provides oversight and management of clinical training and regulatory activities for the BCC Doctoral Internship Program, including maintaining APA accreditation and APPIC membership. The role involves supervising doctoral interns, collaborating with BCC leadership, and providing clinical services to the Biola University community. This is a full-time staff position with administrative faculty status and benefits, including health insurance, 403b match, generous paid leave, and tuition waiver opportunities.

Supervisor

This position reports to the Executive Director of the Biola Counseling Center.

Educational Requirements

PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and licensed as a psychologist in CA. If not licensed in CA, must be license-eligible and able to initiate the CA licensing process immediately upon hire.

Work Requirements

  • Exempt, full-time position, 12 months per year

  • This position requires personal attendance at Biola's campus in La Mirada, CA.

Essential Duties

Clinical Training & Supervision

  • Supervision: Provide primary clinical supervision (including video reviews) for two of four doctoral psychology interns; oversee intern supervision of practicum students.

  • Training Delivery: Develop and deliver orientation, training seminars, and didactic workshops.

  • Evaluation: Conduct intern evaluations three times per year and coordinate with their academic programs.

  • HelpNow Crisis Assessment Reports: Review these reports as they come in and determine BCC follow-up as fitting.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Accreditation: Manage documentation and reporting for APA accreditation, APPIC match, and state regulatory boards.

  • Program Management: Maintain the Doctoral Internship Manual, training resources, and secure clinical storage drives.

  • Recruitment: Assist in evaluating, interviewing, and ranking annual internship candidates.

  • Career Guidance: Assist interns with post-doctoral applications, licensing, and career planning.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience working with APA-accredited doctoral internship.

  • Minimum of 5 years providing clinical supervision, training, and clinical services, university campus experience preferred.

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical training and client care.

  • In addition to the requisite therapeutic, supervisory and clinical training skills, public relations, time management, organizational, and written communication skills are also important for this position.

Hiring range:

$112,000 - $118,000 annual
