The Internal Medicine Residency Program Director is responsible for the oversight, leadership, and administration of all teaching, research, and service activities related to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC). The Program Director will develop, plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate all aspects of the residency program and ensure that accreditation standards for graduate medical education are met or exceeded.
In collaboration with hospital leadership and faculty, the Program Director provides strategic direction for the Internal Medicine program and supports the advancement of MRHCs mission related to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, operational performance, and financial stewardship within the service area.
This role requires a strong commitment to resident education and sufficient protected time to fulfill supervisory, administrative, and teaching responsibilities. The Program Director must be prepared to work within an evolving integrated healthcare delivery system, adapt to technological innovation, and navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Administration
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Internal Medicine Residency Program in compliance with ACGME and institutional requirements.
- Develop and maintain an educational environment conducive to resident learning across all ACGME core competency areas.
- Ensure program policies, curricula, evaluations, and documentation meet accreditation standards.
- Define and assign appropriate clinical responsibilities for residents and faculty.
Resident Education & Mentorship
- Demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to resident education and professional development.
- Provide guidance to residents in educational goal-setting, career planning, patient care, professionalism, and scholarly activities.
- Ensure residents meet professional standards of behavior and competency.
- Participate in teaching, research, and scholarly activities related to the Internal Medicine Residency Program and MRHC.
Clinical Care Responsibilities
- Provide high quality, cost-effective Internal Medicine care (within the scope of hospitalist privileges) to non-obstetrical patients aged 18 years and older.
- Facilitate comprehensive patient care and discharge planning in coordination with residents, students, fellows, patients, families, primary care providers, case management, nursing facilities, and third-party payors, as appropriate.
Faculty & Staff Development
- Assist with the training and development of clinical staff.
- Prepare and deliver initial and periodic performance evaluations.
- Initiate and support performance improvement and quality initiatives within the program and service line.
Institutional Engagement
- Advance MRHC goals related to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, operational efficiency, and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with hospital and medical staff leadership to support strategic initiatives and program growth.

Educational Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
- Approved for membership on the MRHC Medical Staff.

Certification & Licensure Requirements
- Current board certification in Internal Medicine.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Mississippi
