Job Summary

This internship opportunity will be located at our Locks TSB in Petersburg, VA.

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion Electrical Equipment personnel providing technical assistance to substation and power station personnel in the installation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment including procurement of materials, spare parts and specific tools. These positions will be introduced to the Electrical Equipment Development Program for view of employment requirements of successfully completing the Development Program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Strongly prefer candidates that desire "hands on" experience vs. "design" experience
  • Strongly prefer candidates with good problem-solving skills while working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Math and technical/mechanical aptitude required
  • Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and organization

Must meet physical requirements including:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity, color vision, hearing, climbing, stooping, standing, and bending.
  • Weight restriction of 290 pounds due to equipment limits.

Education Requirements

  • Must be pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology, or a related engineering or technical discipline.
  • Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.

Hourly Rate:

$22.00 - $29.00

The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidates degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
