Job Details

Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting schedules.

Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.

Maintain accurate records for operating expenses, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other assigned accounts.

Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany accounting activities as needed.

Support energy-related accounting activities, which may include revenue, production costs, asset expenditures, or inventory, depending on business needs.

Analyze account balances and financial results to identify unusual transactions, explain variances, and improve reporting accuracy.

Prepare documentation and schedules for internal reviews, external audits, and compliance requirements.

Follow applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal control procedures.

Partner with finance, operations, and other stakeholders to obtain information and resolve accounting issues.

Identify practical improvements to reconciliations, close processes, and accounting workflows.

Document procedures and support a smooth handoff at the conclusion of the interim assignment.

Qualifications

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong general ledger, account reconciliation, and financial close skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Demonstrated accounting expertise or an equivalent combination of relevant skills and practical experience.

Strong understanding of applicable accounting principles, financial reporting practices, and internal controls.

Energy industry experience preferred, including exposure to oil and gas, utilities, power generation, or renewable energy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting or enterprise resource planning systems.

Ability to analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and produce accurate work under tight deadlines.

Strong organizational skills and the flexibility to manage shifting priorities in an interim consulting environment.

Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
