    Interim HR Manager

    North Haven, CT | Onsite

An established, multi-location organization is seeking an experienced HR Generalist / HR Manager to step into a highly visible interim role supporting day-to-day HR operations during a period of transition and change.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, supporting employees and managers directly, and bringing structure and follow-through to a busy HR function. The ideal candidate can comfortably move between employee support, leave administration, benefits, compliance, onboarding, and HR process improvement without losing sight of the details.

    What You’ll Do

    • Manage and track FMLA and other employee leaves, including intermittent FMLA and coordination with workers’ compensation when applicable

    • Oversee workers’ compensation cases from initial reporting through return-to-work and closure

    • Serve as a day-to-day HR resource for employees and managers, answering questions and providing guidance on policies, benefits, leaves, timekeeping, and HR processes

    • Support new-hire onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, and related documentation

    • Assist with benefits administration, enrollments, qualifying life events, employee questions, and communications

    • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS information, compliance documentation, and personnel files

    • Identify HR process or compliance gaps and help strengthen workflows, documentation, and consistency

    • Support employee relations matters through documentation, information gathering, and appropriate escalation

    • Partner with Payroll, Finance, managers, and leadership on employee changes and HR-related needs

    • Coordinate required training, safety documentation, and HR compliance tracking

    • Support recruiting activities, interview coordination, background checks, offer documentation, and new-hire paperwork as needed

    • Assist with employee communications, engagement initiatives, policy updates, and HR projects

    • Help keep HR operations organized and moving forward during a broader departmental transition

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong HR generalist background; 7+ years of HR experience is preferred

    • Hands-on experience with FMLA/leave administration and workers’ compensation

    • Benefits administration experience

    • Experience supporting employee relations, onboarding, compliance, and HR documentation

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels

    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

    • Comfortable operating independently while knowing when to escalate sensitive or complex matters

    • Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment

    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality

    Nice to Have

    • ADP experience

    • SharePoint experience

    • Experience supporting a multi-location, distribution, industrial, field-service, or similarly fast-paced organization

    Why This Opportunity?

This role offers the chance to make an immediate impact within an established organization that needs an experienced HR professional who can jump in, take ownership, and help stabilize and strengthen day-to-day HR operations. The scope can flex based on experience, making it a strong fit for either a seasoned HR Generalist or a hands-on HR Manager who enjoys staying involved in the details.
