TRAVEL POSITION - OPEN TO ALL LOCATIONS

• On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; subject to call-back during emergency conditions
• Work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required
• Facility health requirements apply, including medical and physical exams and immunity status checks
• Completion of all assigned facility training and skills competency required

• Plan, organise, implement, evaluate and direct the overall operations of the Nursing Services department in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
• Interpret and communicate policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor staff practice
• Evaluate nursing staff performance and implement discipline per facility policy; participate in recruitment, hiring and termination
• Oversee nursing schedules to meet resident needs, regulatory standards and budget
• Participate in admission decisions and daily or weekly management team meetings
• Participate in QAPI and facility assessment activities and facility committees as appointed
• Oversee the infection control program and develop in-service education to maintain staff competency
• Prepare for inspection surveys, including mock surveys, and participate in plans of correction and nursing follow-up
• Monitor resident incidents daily; report unusual occurrences and monitor and participate in investigation of allegations of abuse, neglect or misappropriation
• Participate in nursing department budget development
• Coordinate care and resolve concerns with residents, families, physicians, department heads and the interdisciplinary team
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary; act in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Administrator

Must-Have

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an Interim DON capacity
• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licence in the state of practice
• Working knowledge of nursing and medical practices and of laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care
• Current CPR certification
