The Interim Director will directly manage custodial, groundskeeping, and maintenance personnel, oversee active vendor/construction contracts, and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment.Operational Leadership & Staff SupervisionProvide day-to-day management, supervision, and guidance to maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial personnel.Maintain equitable coverage, work/vacation schedules, and daily shift assignments across all school facilities.Oversee immediate staff training, enforce district safety protocols, and manage employee time approvals, attendance, and overtime allocations.Facility Operations & Daily MaintenanceEnsure uninterrupted operation of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems across all district sites.Conduct regular physical inspections of buildings and grounds to prioritize emergency repairs, monitor work order backlogs, and execute short-term preventive maintenance schedules.Maintain physical security safeguards, access control, and safety protocols for all school assets.Contract Oversight & Active ProjectsSupervise third-party vendors and active construction or repair projects to guarantee adherence to project timelines and technical specifications.Serve as the primary operational contact for contracted facilities services and mandatory municipal/state building inspections.Assist administration in maintaining project documentation and status updates for long-range facilities plans.Budgetary & Administrative TransitionManage daily operational requisitions, departmental purchasing, and inventory control within the existing operational budget.Maintain clear departmental documentation, maintenance logs, and project files to ensure a seamless onboarding transition for permanent leadership.Attend Board of Education committee and administrative meetings as requested by the School Business Administrator.Qualifications & RequirementsRequired CredentialsActive New Jersey Certified Educational Facilities Manager (CEFM) authorization or eligibility under N.J.S.A. 18A:17-49.High School Diploma or equivalent.Valid Driver's License.Preferred Licenses & CertificationsNew Jersey Black Seal Boiler Operator License.AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) Inspector/Management Planner certification.NJDEP Pesticide Applicator/Operator Certification.Required ExperienceProven experience in supervisory facilities management, ideally within K-12 public school districts.Strong background in managing custodial operations, building trades, preventive maintenance systems, and vendor contracts.Ability to step into an active operation, read facility plans/specifications, and establish immediate working rapport with staff and contractors.Application Procedure: Interested candidates must apply online through the district job portal.Application Deadline: Open until filledEEO/AA EmployerJob ID 1312
