Interim Accounting Manager

Interim Accounting ManagerHerndon, VA (Primarily On-Site) | Contract | 2-3 Month Engagement

Cherry Bekaert is assisting a growing, publicly traded technology organization in identifying an Interim Accounting Manager to support the Controller during a critical period of growth and transition. This consultant will play a key role in month-end close activities, reconciliations, process improvements, and government contracting accounting operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys digging into the details while helping strengthen financial processes and controls.

• Immediate start required
• Expected duration of 2-3 months
• Primarily on-site in Herndon, VA with some flexibility for 1-2 days remote work once established
• Estimated pay rate: $70-$80/hour

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Support government contracting accounting requirements and compliance
• Assist with financial reporting and accounting operations as needed
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and accounting functions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership experience

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Government contracting experience required
• Costpoint experience required
• Experience supporting monthly close and reconciliation processes
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Public company and/or public accounting experience preferred
• Willingness to be highly hands-on in day-to-day accounting operations
