Interim Accounting Manager
Herndon, VA (Primarily On-Site) | Contract | 2-3 Month Engagement
Cherry Bekaert is assisting a growing, publicly traded technology organization in identifying an Interim Accounting Manager to support the Controller during a critical period of growth and transition. This consultant will play a key role in month-end close activities, reconciliations, process improvements, and government contracting accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys digging into the details while helping strengthen financial processes and controls.
- Immediate start required
- Expected duration of 2-3 months
- Primarily on-site in Herndon, VA with some flexibility for 1-2 days remote work once established
- Estimated pay rate: $70-$80/hour
Responsibilities
- Support the Controller with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Support government contracting accounting requirements and compliance
- Assist with financial reporting and accounting operations as needed
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and accounting functions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Government contracting experience required
- Costpoint experience required
- Experience supporting monthly close and reconciliation processes
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Public company and/or public accounting experience preferred
- Willingness to be highly hands-on in day-to-day accounting operations
