    Varstaff is looking for an Avionics / Electro-Mechanical Technician III.

    About the Job: In this role, you will provide hands-on electro-mechanical support across development, test, and flight environments within the Avionics Hardware Lab. Supporting engines, in-space systems, and test operations, you will assemble, fabricate, test, and repair flight-grade avionics, battery systems, power distribution, and wire harnesses. Working directly from schematics and engineering layouts, you will perform operational testing, fault isolation, and mechanical/electrical assembly, giving direct input on design improvements and process optimizations for safe human spaceflight.

    Shift Details & Location

    • Shift: C Shift | Friday – Sunday, 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM

    • Location: Kent, WA (Local candidates required)

    What We’re Looking For Education & Experience

    • 3+ years of experience in aerospace avionics or related high-reliability fields (5–7 years preferred).

    • Demonstrated experience performing hands-on component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and wire harness fabrication.

    • Experience inspecting and certifying work to relevant aerospace specifications and standards.

    • Experience in ESD Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA) and tool control/accountability processes.

    • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.

    Must-Have Skills

    • Electrical Assembly & Soldering: Hand soldering proficiency, component-level board repair, wire harness fabrication/termination/testing, and use of basic electronic test equipment (multimeters, power supplies).

    • Polymerics Application: Hands-on experience with application and removal of polymerics, including staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating on PCBAs and mechanical hardware.

    • Mechanical Assembly: Experience with mechanical hardware assembly, applying specified torque values to fasteners/components, and installing threaded inserts.

    • Testing & Troubleshooting: Skill in interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams to perform operational checkouts, fault isolation, and basic troubleshooting in lab and production environments.

    • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and work flexible schedules with occasional overtime to support launch milestones.

    Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

    • Active or past certifications in IPC standards (e.g., J-STD-001 / J-STD Space, IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721, IPC/WHMA-A-620 / Space Addendum).

    • Experience with high-voltage/energized power systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.

    • Experience documenting non-conformances, performing dispositioned rework, and using electronic work order or configuration management systems.
