Job DetailsOur client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Paralegal to join their litigation team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of insurance defense litigation and be comfortable supporting attorneys throughout the entire lifecycle of a case, from initial file intake through trial, arbitration, or resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in managing a caseload of insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Assist with case preparation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and settlement.
- Draft, prepare, and organize discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Assist with preparing deposition notices, subpoenas, deposition exhibits, and other litigation documents.
- Coordinate and assist with scheduling depositions, independent medical examinations, expert witnesses, inspections, mediations, and hearings.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files, ensuring all documents and correspondence are accurately maintained.
- Review and summarize medical records, employment records, claim files, discovery responses, and other case-related documents.
- Assist attorneys with trial and arbitration preparation, including exhibit organization, witness files, trial binders, and demonstratives.
- Conduct legal and factual research as requested by attorneys.
- Monitor case deadlines, court dates, discovery cutoffs, statutes of limitations, and other critical dates.
- Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel.
- Assist with preparation of status reports, litigation budgets, billing documentation, and client correspondence.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in insurance defense or civil litigation.
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures, discovery, and case management.
- Experience supporting attorneys handling personal injury, premises liability, professional liability, construction defect, employment, transportation, or other insurance defense matters is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management/document-management systems.
- Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.
