Insurance Defense Associate Attorney
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Salary Range: $125,000–$165,000, commensurate with experience
Work Arrangement: Potential to work 1 day per week from home

Position Summary
We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to support our Transportation Department. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in insurance defense and litigation.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and strong oral and written communication abilities. The candidate should be comfortable communicating and building professional relationships with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and witnesses while working effectively in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle cases from inception through trial and appeal.
- Regularly appear in court for conferences and oral arguments.
- Handle depositions and motion practice.
- Draft litigation documents, including:
- Pleadings
- Motions
- Discovery demands
- Conduct legal research and prepare case-related documents.
- Participate in all phases of litigation.
- Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and witnesses.
- Manage deadlines and prioritize multiple cases and assignments effectively.
- Work independently while taking ownership of assigned matters and client communications.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Must have graduated from law school and sat for the bar; pending admission is acceptable.
- Licensed to practice law in New York.
- New Jersey bar admission is a plus.
- 4+ years of litigation experience, preferably with an insurance defense background.
- Knowledge of New York State No-Fault Law is strongly preferred.
- Experience handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and court appearances.
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
- Ability to work independently and immediately engage in client contact and assume relevant responsibilities.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Comfortable working with business professionals, senior management, and colleagues across departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- A writing sample will be requested prior to the interview.
