Job Title: Insurance AR Follow-Up Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location (city, state): Phoenix, AZ 85016

Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 5:00pm

Pay: $18.50 – $25.00/hour

Job Description:

The Insurance AR Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for managing outstanding accounts receivable by working directly with insurance companies to resolve unpaid or underpaid claims. This position requires a strong understanding of billing processes, denial management, and high-volume follow-up in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on unpaid and underpaid claims with government and commercial insurance payers in Arizona
  • Manage a daily workload of 45–55 accounts using NextGen work queues
  • Review and interpret EOBs to identify discrepancies and denial reasons
  • Investigate and resolve claim issues via payer portals and outbound calls
  • Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims
  • Track and trend payer issues to support resolution and process improvements
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of account activity

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1.5+ years of insurance AR follow-up experience
  • Experience handling high-volume workloads (40+ accounts/day required)
  • Knowledge of government and commercial insurance, including AHCCCS
  • Experience with denials and appeals processes
