Key Responsibilities:
Verifying eligibility: Confirming patient insurance benefits, deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket maximums via portals or phone.
Securing authorizations: Obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications for medical procedures.
Data entry: Accurately entering demographic and insurance data into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Patient communication: Explaining financial responsibilities to patients compassionately before their appointments.
Core Qualifications to Require/Prefer:
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or healthcare front-office roles.
System Familiarity: Experience with major EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks, Allscripts, MODMED a plus) and insurance web portals (e.g., Availity).
Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
