Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and lay out custom instrumentation and control systems for industrial air-pollution control equipment.
• Select equipment and design instrumentation and control packages.
• Review P&IDs, process-control narratives, instrument lists, and project requirements with project engineers.
• Develop I/O lists, equipment specifications, bid documents, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Design single-line diagrams, panel layouts, control-panel schematics, and related electrical documentation.
• Design control panels using relay-based and PLC-based logic.
• Program PLCs using ladder logic or function block programming.
• Work with Siemens, Rockwell Automation, GE, and Modicon control platforms.
• Program or modify HMIs using Siemens, Rockwell, Pro-face, and similar platforms.
• Specify and program VFDs and VSDs using pump and fan curves.
• Troubleshoot pumps, fans, control valves, instrumentation, drives, wiring, and associated PID control systems.
• Coordinate with control-panel fabricators and approve revisions and as-built drawings.
• Inspect completed equipment against project specifications.
• Identify and correct control-panel wiring issues in the field without additional technical assistance.
• Modify PLC and HMI programs at customer sites and complete necessary control-panel modifications.
• Support field service technicians by analyzing equipment problems and recommending solutions.
• Answer customer and sales-representative questions regarding system design and performance.
• Support the sales team with equipment selection and technical input during the quotation process.
• Monitor project needs, schedules, costs, and quality issues while anticipating potential delays.
• Recommend design improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support customers and assigned business lines.

Qualifications Needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience designing and implementing control systems for OEM equipment.
• Experience designing control panels using both relay and PLC control logic.
• Hands-on experience writing PLC programs using Siemens, Rockwell Automation, GE, or Modicon platforms.
• Experience with ladder logic or function block programming.
• Strong knowledge of industrial plant process control and monitoring.
• Ability to read and review P&IDs, process-control narratives, instrument lists, and electrical schematics.
• Experience producing single-line diagrams, control-panel layouts, schematics, I/O lists, and technical specifications.
• Experience specifying and troubleshooting VFDs or VSDs using pump and fan curves.
• Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot wiring and make PLC, HMI, and panel modifications in the field.
• Strong technical-writing skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
• Ability to work occasionally in industrial plants and construction environments.
