Join our team in beautiful San Diego, CA, where you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment. This full-time position offers a flexible schedule and the potential for extension, all while working onsite.
Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory equipment routinely.
  • Develop, execute, and document validations related activities in a timely manner.
  • Understand calibration terminology, principles, equipment, process, and specifications thoroughly.
  • Read, understand, and work from technical manuals, SOPs, and schematics.
  • Possess exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to develop, review, and revise departmental procedures.
  • Execute moderate to complex projects with limited supervision.
  • Represent the instrumentation department professionally to internal and external customers, vendors, and other groups within the company.
  • Educate end-users on basic calibration principles and recommend adequate preventive maintenance activities.
  • Perform basic record-keeping and data management activities such as entering equipment history records and running reports.
  • Conduct maintenance activities consistent with department policies and company requirements.
  • Assist with equipment inventory reconciliation and refurbish surplus or unused equipment.
  • Operate independently within a team environment.
Education and Experience
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED (A.S., B.A., or CST Certification is desirable).
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related work experience with laboratory or hospital equipment is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience with ISO 9001: 2008, 10012, 17025, or 13485 required.
  • Experience with system databases such as SAP, CalMan, Microsoft Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of calibration principles and good documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration equipment calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively perform component-level troubleshooting, data analysis, and in-depth equipment repair.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, shifts in priorities, and time-sensitive projects effectively.
  • Customer service-oriented with a moderate understanding of calibration principles, terminology, loop checking, troubleshooting, start-up, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Proficient in using electronic test equipment and reading schematics. Computer and database skills are required.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills are required.
  • Requires a current, valid, unrestricted California Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently operates company vehicles and equipment.
  • Frequently stands on feet for the majority of the shift (up to 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week);works in confined spaces.
  • Frequently transports objects by holding them in hands or arms or by using carts.
  • Frequent operation of hand and power tools.
  • Seizes, hauls, or works with hands.
  • Frequent lifting, raising, and lowering of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, pumps, motors, and other related items.
  • Frequent bending at the knees or waist;occasionally moving in and out of confined spaces.
  • Moderate sitting.
  • Frequently works on live electric equipment.
  • Occasional overtime beyond 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day required.
Environmental Conditions
  • Occasionally works in noisy conditions.
  • Personnel Protective Equipment required, including safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
