Description

Our client, an Automotive Manufacturing company, is looking for an Instrument Technician for their Milford, MI location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Build Test Boxes / Breakout boards
  • Mechanical assembly (hand tools) – ability to assemble and disassemble controllers
  • Can follow Schematic Markup
  • Printed circuit board (PCB) check out and visual inspections
  • Daily breakdown
  • Mostly working alongside another engineer
  • Could be looking at a printed circuit board and have to make modifications
  • Take small components of the circuit board
  • Soldering
  • Testing on the bench, helping to root cause and operate the controller to try and duplicate different issues, operating lab equipment, power supplies, create wire harnesses or test boxes for the bench
  • Assist engineers in root causing failed electrical components
 
Requirements:
  • Ability to multitask and clearly document status per controller
  • Technical responsibilities (preferred)
  • Team structure – 90% communication directly with their own team, 3-5 engineers that they will be limited to working with, might also be working with the software team but not often
  • Ability to solder small electrical components (e.g. 0805, 0402, etc.)
  • Experience with hot air reflow (e.g. IC replacement)
  • Familiarity with bench lab equipment - Power supplies, oscilloscopes, load boxes, flash tools
  • Ability to create (design and build) wire harnesses
  • Motivator for this need – busy and need the extra hands
  • Education requirement – Associates Degree preferred but not required. High School Diploma is required
  • Electronics background (3-5 years of experience)
  • Someone hands on and that can work independently
  • Most of the team currently came from an automotive background which is nice and helpful, but not required
  • Ability to create (design and build) wire harnesses and Build Test Boxes / Breakout boards
  • Familiarity with bench lab equipment - Power supplies, oscilloscopes, load boxes, flash tools
