Job Summary

Automation Service is seeking a Instrument Calibration Technician to run advanced diagnostic testing on Fisher control valve assemblies before they ship. Using Advanced Control Valve Diagnostics software, you'll test valve performance, analyze the results, tune and calibrate positioners, and document every assembly before it leaves our facility. You'll work closely with the Valve Shop, Tech Shop and Inspection teams to make sure every valve meets our quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Diagnostic Testing

  • Connect and configure diagnostic equipment on control valve assemblies.
  • Run diagnostic tests using Profiler Advanced Control Valve Diagnostics software.
  • Analyze Profiler graphs and test data to identify performance issues, abnormalities or needed adjustments.
  • Test repaired and warranty valve assemblies, and provide As Found and As Left reports.
  • Prepare Profiler reports documenting each valve assembly's performance.

Calibration and Tuning

  • Calibrate and tune DVC positioners using a HART communicator or Fieldbus.
  • Calibrate and tune 3600 series and 3582 series positioners.

Troubleshooting and Communication

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues with control valves and actuators, and report findings to the Valve Shop for correction.
  • Troubleshoot positioner issues and report findings to the Tech Shop for correction.
  • Decide when technical or performance issues need to be escalated.
  • Clearly communicate technical findings to the Valve Shop, Tech Shop, Inspection, Engineering and other teams.

Inspection Support

  • Support the Inspection department by applying acceptance and rejection criteria to parts, components and completed assemblies.
  • Follow established inspection procedures, specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in instrumentation, industrial maintenance, electronics, mechanical systems or a related field is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Experience with control valves, actuators or positioners is preferred. Familiarity with Fisher products or HART communicators is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and apply technical specifications.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn specialized diagnostic software.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to a safe, organized, quality-focused work environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
  • Ability to walk and stand for about 8 hours a day in a climate-controlled shop.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $25-$30/hour, based on experience
  • Schedule: 6 AM - 2:30 PM or 7 AM - 3:30 PM
