Position Information
Job Title Instructor - Social Work Department Grace Abbott School of Social Work Essential Functions
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for an instructor position in the Grace Abbott School of Social Work. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the enrollment needs of the university. Anticipated start date is January 4, 2027.
This position is ideal for experienced social work practitioners and teaching-focused educators who are passionate about preparing the next generation of social workers through practice-informed instruction. The Instructor role emphasizes excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and integration of applied social work practice. Workload would be 12 credit hours fall and spring semesters with opportunities to serve on departmental committees.

Work Schedule Additional Duties Required Qualifications
Candidates must have an MSW plus a minimum of two years of practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Current social work licensure or license eligibility is preferred. Relevant social work practice experience or demonstrated expertise may include, but is not limited to: mental and behavioral health practice, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, child welfare, work with immigrant and refugee populations, cross-cultural or community based social work.
Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate social work courses is preferred, including in-person, hybrid, or distance education formats. Experience incorporating experiential learning, service learning, or community engagement, as well as commitment to working with under-served populations is preferred.
