Job Summary:
The Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences (formerly Communication Disorders) at West Texas A&M University is excited to announce a non-tenured full-time faculty position beginning in January 2027 for the spring semester. This position serves as an academic and clinical instructor as well as the Director of Clinical Education (formerly clinical coordinator). This position focuses primarily on graduate student clinical experiences internally as well as externally in the community, state, and nation. The Director of Clinical Education tracks competencies, knowledge, and skills acquired across the graduate program to ensure that all graduate students in the speech-language pathology program have a well-rounded and comprehensive clinical education per ASHA standards. This faculty member will also develop, execute, and assess new initiatives and approaches to clinical education and experiences including but not limited to simulations and community-based learning to advance the graduate program’s standing and accreditation. Additional responsibilities include some leadership and administrative tasks as assigned by the program director and department chair. This faculty member will teach at least 1 to 2 didactic courses per long semester and provide clinical supervision/education to first year graduate students. Although summer schedule is flexible, it is anticipated that the Director of Clinical Education must complete many responsibilities during the summer to prepare for the upcoming fall as well as maintain departmental operations.
