    JOB TITLE: Interim Instructor of Physical Education and Recreation

    DEPT: Academic Affairs

    REPORTS TO: Physical Education Department Chair

    JOB TYPE: Full Time

    LOCATION: Lane College

    AVAILABILITY: Fall 2026

    JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:

    The Lane College Physical Education Department seeks an Interim Physical Education Instructor. This is a nine-month faculty position with a maximum teaching load of 12 credit hours. Teaching responsibilities include core and elective classes as well as activity courses. Additional responsibilities include advising, curriculum development, assessment, and service to the college and community. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Blackboard, CAMS, hybrid/online courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content. The instructor will also be responsible for teaching major courses in various formats, advising majors, and assisting in student recruitment and retention efforts. Additionally, the instructor will serve on division and college committees, meet established deadlines, and perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

    • Teach introductory level courses each semester and upper-level courses
    • Teach major courses in traditional, blended, and online formats.
    • Familiarity with Blackboard, CAMS, hybrid/online courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content
    • Academic advising.
    • Participating in departmental, divisional, and institutional activities.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body
    • Meet established deadlines
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
