POSITION SUMMARY

The Avila University School of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, guided by the mission of excellence in teaching and learning, and dedicated to the service to the Dear Neighbor, is actively seeking a part-time instructor in Counseling Psychology. The successful candidate would be prepared to teach courses at the Master's level in the Counseling Psychology Program. We welcome candidates with expertise in engaging students from diverse backgrounds, particularly first-generation students.

The part-time instructor is expected to hold this role at Avila University as their primary employment, working approximately 25 hours per week in this position during the academic contract from mid-August through the end of May.

Responsibilities:

• Teach an equivalent of 18 credit hours over the academic year (may include summer if desired) in our Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) Program. • Courses to be assigned based on expertise and program needs. • Serve as faculty mentor to MSCP students. • Participate in course, curriculum, and program development, and student training. • Attend university, department, and program meetings and events. • Create an environment in the classroom that facilitates effective student learning. • Champion diversity, build an inclusive culture and learning experience, and maintain an equitable learning environment. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Earned master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or closely related area required. • Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or closely related area preferred. • Must hold an active license (e.g., Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor) or be license eligible in Kansas or Missouri. • Ongoing engagement in clinical practice required. • Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students required. • Experience supervising clinical activities of students or clinicians required. • Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate or graduate students preferred. • Ability to work effectively with others in a wide variety of settings. • Multilingual skills highly preferred. • Successful candidates should showcase their work and experience in contributing to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
