Job Summary

The College is seeking an Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor of Disaster Management. Candidates for the position should have broad competence in Disaster Management with the ability to teach a variety of related courses. Candidates who bring experience, expertise, and/or specialization in disaster management and/or emergency management are most preferred. Experience in online teaching is beneficial as the program offers a number of its courses in an online format. However, effective teaching skill must be demonstrated and is expected in both the online and face-to-face classes. Candidates must satisfy scholarly academic faculty qualification status.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Work with the School Director on course scheduling and curriculum matters
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring for undergraduate students.
  • Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication.
  • Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
  • Actively participate in recruitment and retention for the programs.
  • Contribute to the mission of the program and college.
  • Regularly participate in on-campus activities and events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates to be hired at the Instructor level must have Master's Degree and experience in the industry. Candidates to be hired at the Assistant or Associate level generally must have a doctoral degree (or be ABD) in Disaster Management or closely related field of specialization, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service. ABD candidates must be nearing completion. Expertise should be demonstrated through doctoral transcripts and/or professional experience.
