Qualifications:

60 college credits or a passing score on the ParaPro Exam required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Some or all of the following duties and responsibilities may apply)

  • Under supervision of a certified teacher, prepare for classroom activities and instruction
  • Assist students in completing classroom assignments and projects
  • Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures and assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance
  • Assist teachers with the implementation of lesson plans
  • Work with individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher
  • Assist students with mobility and access to materials
  • Closely supervise students throughout the school building and on the playground
  • Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly and enriched learning environment
  • Monitor student activities and student behavior
  • Assist in implementation and monitoring of behavior plans, when applicable
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment
  • Participate in daily activities, training sessions
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Participate in inservice training, conferences or formal classes related to assignment
  • Show initiative when working with children
  • Maintain cooperative, effective relationships
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records
  • Assist in additional duties as assigned by administration

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, reaching, squatting, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom.

Salary: $21.49 - $24.46 hourly rate

Benefits: Paraprofessionals are not eligible for benefits
