Instructional Developer CTL

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides Phoenix College (PC) faculty with professional development opportunities to improve student outcomes in all instructional environments. The CTL is seeking an Instructional Developer (ID) who is passionate about teaching, learning, and technology.

A successful candidate builds and nurtures strong partnerships with PC educators, applies instructional expertise, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to address teaching and learning needs, and serves as a subject-matter expert to enhance student and faculty outcomes. The ID provides holistic faculty support by troubleshooting technical and instructional questions, providing professional development on our supported instructional technologies, including the Learning Management System (LMS, Canvas), and collaborating with faculty and department colleagues. The ID participates in Distance Learning initiatives and serves on college and District committees as a representative of the CTL. The ID supports teaching and learning quality assurance activities, including tracking related professional development, adhering to accessibility guidelines, and fostering continuous improvement.

The ID will 1) serve as a Canvas administrator, 2) offer faculty professional development for teaching and learning best practices, 3) consult with instructional departments, programs, and faculty, and 4) create and maintain clear documentation and design, develop, and deliver training and support for instructional technologies, including the Canvas LMS.

Essential Functions

45% - Support Instructional Technologies, including the Canvas LMS. Serve as a Canvas administrator and provide faculty, staff, and students with technical and instructional support. Duties include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting issues, using the help desk ticketing system, creating and copying courses, enrolling users, running reports, providing 1-1 assistance via email, phone, and in person, and serving on Canvas-related committees.

25% - Create and facilitate faculty professional development opportunities (including but not limited to support materials and workshops that address Canvas adoption and features, teaching best practices, course design, and other instructional technologies).

20% - Consult with faculty in the development of courses, including course design, teaching strategies, and quality standards.

10% - Attend training and department meetings; actively participate in teaching and learning teams, committees, and initiatives. Other duties as assigned.
