Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop instructor-led (classroom) and on-the-job (field-based) training for apprenticeships in the Power Generation utility industry.
  • Perform detailed task analysis for hydro utility workers performing complex, high-risk, hands-on work.
  • Create hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, and scenario-based learning materials.
  • Develop assessments, simulations, videos, and other instructional media to support applied skills development and job performance.
  • Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and safety requirements in remote learning environments.
  • Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
  • Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, train-the-trainer, and pilot sessions.
  • Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
  • Available during office hours: 8am to 5pm (PST) and able to meet in person for milestone meetings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing instructor-led training for complex, hands-on skills, such as electrical utilities or related industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in adult education or related areas of study.
  • Experience in instructional design methodologies and technical writing.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables on time.
  • Collaborate closely with team and subject matter experts to proactively communicate concerns, issues, and risks.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with hydroelectric operations, apprenticeships, mechanical engineering, or machining.
  • Master's degree in instructional design or education-related areas of study.
  • Experience with QuestionMark and Author-It.
  • Skilled in graphic design.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Previous Client Academy experience.
