Job Number Title: Instructional Assistant-Middle School Support Room-2 Year Grant Funded (2025-26 and 2026-27) Pay Schedule: CASE- Assistant Scale FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Principal and Classroom Teacher (s) JOB SUMMARY Assists the school in creating an atmosphere where it is the expectation that all students can learn. GRANT FUNDED POSITION This is a grant funded position for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school year. In the event additional funding sources (e.g., grants, local allocations) are identified, the position may extend beyond the 2026-2027 school year. If not, this position will conclude on June 30, 2027. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists teacher(s) in providing appropriate learning experiences for students by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce the work taught by the teacher(s). Assists teacher(s) in providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children. Assists teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate, accurate, and confidential student records in compliance with various federal, state, and local regulations. Assists in supervising students in a variety of school-related settings. Assists teacher(s) in implementing appropriate behavior and classroom expectations of students. At the direction of the principal, provides supervision, de-escalation, and self- management support to students. At the direction of the principal, maintains appropriate data related to student visits to the support room. Facilitates safe transfer of students within and to and from the building as needed. Participates in committees and collaborates with staff to support behavior interventions as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED One of the following is preferred: Completed at least two years of postsecondary study; or Obtained an Associate's Degree (or higher); or Passed the MSDE approved assessment (ParaPro) Experience working with school-age students with various disabilities preferred Completion of evidence-based trauma informed crisis intervention program training directed by CCPS staff will be required upon hire and maintained. Ability to properly execute appropriate crisis intervention strategies based on CCPS training and relevant policies and procedures PHYSICAL DEMANDS Heavy work: Exerting exceptionally strong but not constant physical effort to perform very heavy work typically involving some combination of balance, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive ,motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (up to 100 pounds frequently and 100 pounds or over occasionally with assistance, visual perception and discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color, perceive and discriminate color, perceive odors and require oral communications

    WORKING CONDITIONS Employees in this position work in an environment where the employee must deal with crisis situations that require major decisions involving people, resources, and property. Final placement is subject to review and approval by the Human Resources Department.
