Job Summary

Assist teachers in the special education program with daily instructional activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned • Assists teacher in routine classroom operation. • Demonstrates understanding of students problems. • Assists individual and small groups of special education students with assignments, as directed by teacher. • Prepares instructional materials. • Assists in maintaining up-to-date records of student progress. • Assists in scheduling IEP meetings. • Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students and their program. • Assists students in attending to basic needs, when necessary. • Follows through with prescribed behavioral management programs. • Maintains classroom including preparing bulletin boards. • Keeps records, writes lessons on the board, corrects student s work. • Lifts or assists with lifting students from wheel chairs to changing tables or designated areas.

Requirements / Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). -Pass District test(s). -Desired current CPR/First Aid card and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) cards.
