The Inclusion Paraprofessional works under the supervision of certified special education staff to promote student independence, engagement, and success.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GED (required)48 college hours, associate degree, or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment of Academic Skills (required)CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification (preferred or required upon hire)Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of student disabilities and accommodationsAbility to follow teacher guidance and implement support strategiesEffective communication and collaboration with general and special education staffPatience, flexibility, and professionalism in supporting students with diverse learning needsAbility to model appropriate behavior and support student regulationMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional Support:Assist students during instruction by clarifying content, supporting assignments, and reinforcing accommodationsSupport implementation of instructional modifications as specified in the IEPMonitor and document student progress, participation, and areas of needBehavioral Support:Reinforce classroom expectations and assist with behavior management strategiesProvide positive behavioral support and redirection as neededAssist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) when applicableCollaboration:Work closely with general education teachers, special education teachers, and related service providersParticipate in training and staff development to support inclusion practicesAttend ARD meetings when requested and maintain the confidentiality of student informationSupervision and Safety:Supervise students in general education classes, hallways, lunch, arrival/dismissal, and transitions as neededEnsure student safety and well-being in all settingsReport any concerns regarding student behavior, academic needs, or safety to the appropriate staffWorking Conditions:Classroom and school campus environmentMay require assisting students with physical, emotional, or behavioral needsSome lifting or physical support may be necessaryPossible exposure to challenging behaviors or self-regulation issues Minimum Salary $15.23 hourlySalary is commensurate with experienceWorks 187 Day Calendar This position requires on-site, in-person work and does not offer remote work options.Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through October 5, 2026.
