Job Title: Special Education Aide Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Reports to: Principal and teacher(s) assigned Dept./ School: Assigned Campus Pay Grade: 403 Date Revised: 9/2025Duty Days: 187 Qualifications: Education/ Certification: High School diploma or GED 48 hours of college preferred or Para-Educator Training Certificate Valid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/ Skills: Ability to work well with children with disabilities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Knowledge of general office equipment CPR training preferred Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training Bilingual preferred Experience: Two years of experienceworking with children Major Responsibilities and Duties: Align the major functions of the assignmentwith district goals such that all studentssucceed. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and stateand local board policy. Assist studentswith physical or behavioral disabilities according to their individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning. Assist studentswith physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene. Assist in managing the behavior of studentsand crisis intervention. This includes restraining disruptive or physically dangerousstudentsasneeded. Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to eachstudent's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Work with individual studentsor small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercisesassignedby the teacher. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus duty, and playground. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students. Assist the teacherin preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenanceof equipment. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, therapeutic holding asrequired, regular lifting of students. Biological exposureto bacteria and communicate diseases.
