As an Instructional Aide at The Richardson School, you''ll work directly with students who have developmental, neurological, emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health needs. You''ll help students learn, build relationships, develop new skills, and work toward their individual goals in a supportive school environment.

You''ll work alongside teachers and other members of the education team while receiving training and guidance to help you succeed.

Previous special education experience is helpful, but it isn''t required. We''re looking for dependable, patient, compassionate people who are willing to learn and want to make a difference in the lives of children.

What You''ll Do

• Build positive, supportive relationships with students
• Assist students with classroom activities, academics, and individualized learning goals
• Provide behavioral and emotional support using trained and approved techniques
• Help students stay engaged and participate in learning
• Support students with social skills, communication, and daily living skills
• Assist with personal care and hygiene needs when necessary
• Follow students'' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Collect and document academic and behavioral information
• Work closely with teachers, supervisors, and other members of the education team
• Encourage students and celebrate their progress and accomplishments
• Maintain a calm, patient, and supportive approach during challenging situations
• Participate in training and ongoing professional development

What We''re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children, students with disabilities, behavioral needs, or related populations is preferred
• Ability to build positive relationships with children
• Patient, dependable, and compassionate approach
• Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control during challenging situations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Good judgment and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to follow directions, accept feedback, and learn new techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Eligible for an Instructional Aide license through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
• Valid driver''s license and acceptable driving record required

A background in education, childcare, special education, behavioral health, youth programs, or a related field is a plus.

Schedule & Pay

Pay: $20/hour

Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

Year-round position

Instructional Aides support students throughout the school year and continue working during school breaks through camp programming. This means you can enjoy the consistency of a Monday-Friday schedule while continuing to work with students throughout the year.
