The Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI) is seeking a highly qualified professional leader to serve as the Institution Security Manager (ISM). This position provides critical oversight of institutional security operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, directives, and standards. The ISM is responsible for guiding the institution's security mission, supporting staff development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of AICs, employees and volunteers.

About the Job - Your Role
As the Institution Security Manager, you will oversee all security functions at CRCI, providing strategic direction and daily leadership to Lieutenants, Sergeants, Officers, IWP staff, and other assigned areas. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to the Superintendent, fill in as acting Superintendent as needed, contribute to the Institution Executive Management Team, and play a critical role in statewide security management initiatives.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience;
OR
Two years of related experience AND a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Special Qualifications
Be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult correctional facility that houses male adults in custody. Work may include dealing with hostile, aggressive adults in custody who may make threats to self and family. adults in custody may be verbally abusive as well as mentally or emotionally abusive. Employee subject to recall 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency and may be assigned as needed.
Employee responsible for monitoring and responding timely to after-hours notifications for unusual incidents and emergencies.
Columbia River Correctional Institution is tobacco free. Use of tobacco products is prohibited within the building or on the grounds.
This employee is responsible for preventing escapes from confinement by proper control of keys, tools and contraband and documenting the unusual incidents as they occur. During "work stoppage", he/she would be required to fill any post assigned in the institution. This position may require physical exertion to respond to adults in custody out of control behavior, restraint of an adults in custody; break up a fight and/or come to the aid of/defense of another person.
This employee is a member of a management team where conversations and paperwork are generated of a sensitive nature. This employee must have the ability to keep this information confidential.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
