Commercial Door & Hardware Installer

Pay: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday (4-day workweek)
Hours: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Lunch: 1-hour unpaid lunch break

TMD Staffing is hiring an experienced and dependable Commercial Door & Hardware Installer to install, service, and repair commercial doors, frames, and hardware for new construction and renovation projects throughout the Austin area.

Job Responsibilities

• Install hollow metal, steel, aluminum storefront, and architectural wood doors.
• Install welded and knock-down door frames.
• Install commercial hardware, including locksets, panic bars, door closers, hinges, thresholds, weather stripping, and access control components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, door schedules, shop drawings, and project specifications.
• Measure openings and ensure doors and frames are properly aligned, level, and square.
• Perform service calls, repairs, adjustments, and warranty work.
• Safely operate hand and power tools while maintaining a clean and organized jobsite.

Experience & Qualifications

• Preferred experience in commercial door installation, door manufacturing, carpentry, millwork, construction, or architectural hardware.
• Preferred Knowledge of hollow metal doors, steel frames, wood doors, and commercial hardware.
• Ability to read a tape measure and interpret construction drawings.
• Experience with fabrication, assembly, and field modifications is a plus.
• Preferred Familiarity with fire-rated doors, ADA requirements, and commercial construction practices preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Tool Knowledge

Experience using the following tools is preferred:

• Impact drivers and drills
• Hammer drills
• Grinders and cut-off saws
• Laser levels and layout tools
• Tape measures and precision measuring equipment
• Hand tools used in door installation and manufacturing
• Power fastening systems and installation equipment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and handling materials.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors on active construction sites.

Related Experience

Candidates with backgrounds as Commercial Door Installers, Door Shop Fabricators, Finish Carpenters, Architectural Hardware Technicians, Millwork Installers, Locksmith Technicians, Construction Carpenters, or Facilities Maintenance Technicians are encouraged to apply.
