Position Overview
Located in Norwell, MA, a charming town known for its rich history and vibrant community, we are seeking an experienced Installation Technician to lead and support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mission-critical low-voltage systems throughout New England.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with security systems, audio/visual systems, wireless communications, and low-voltage cabling, and be comfortable working on medium to large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the installation, repair, maintenance, and commissioning of low-voltage systems.
- Work with systems including CCTV/video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, audio/visual systems, and wireless communications.
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling.
- Perform cable management and device installation.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and equipment.
- Complete project documentation, including commissioning reports, test reports, as-built documentation, and system certifications.
- Provide regular project status updates.
- Identify and report non-compliant project, site, or system conditions.
- Ensure technology systems meet applicable standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Read and interpret project scopes, one-line drawings, floor plans, specifications, submittals, installation manuals, and test reports.
- Follow proper cabling practices for category-rated and multi-conductor cabling.
- Perform fire stopping on penetrations made or identified during work.
- Configure and troubleshoot basic wired and wireless network connectivity.
- Assist with system integration involving hardware and software.
- Use low-voltage crimping tools, meters, toners, and other construction/testing equipment.
- Work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience installing and commissioning low-voltage/data communication systems.
- Experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion systems, audio/visual systems, and wireless communications.
- Massachusetts Class D Security Systems Technician License – REQUIRED for MA security work.
- Ability to independently lead or manage medium to large-scale projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, project scopes, floor plans, specifications, and installation documentation.
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage cabling installation and termination.
- Experience with fire stopping.
- General understanding of wired and wireless networking.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot basic LAN and Internet connectivity.
- Understanding of system integration between hardware and software.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel throughout New England, including MA, RI, NH, and ME.
- Ability to work evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends when required.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nurse Call systems.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience with one or more of the following systems: Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu.
- Firestop certification, such as Hilti or 3M.
- Rhode Island TST Data License.
- Boom lift or scissor lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to see and hear clearly.
- Ability to distinguish colors, with or without correction.
- Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, handling, pulling cables, and operating tools.
- Ability to coordinate hand and eye movements accurately.
- Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance.
- Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods while carrying equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
- $40–$50/hour, depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and skills.
