Job Title: Installation Manager - Automation SystemsJob Description

The Installation Manager oversees the on-site installation of large-scale automation systems at customer facilities, primarily within automotive manufacturing environments. This role serves as the primary on-site representative, coordinating complex automation line installations that support engine, transmission, and other advanced manufacturing processes. The Installation Manager leads large cross-functional teams, manages project timelines, and resolves real-time issues to ensure successful, safe, and efficient system installations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation of large-scale automation systems and equipment in customer facilities, with a focus on automotive manufacturing lines for engines, transmissions, and other complex processes.
  • Serve as the on-site representative during installation projects, acting as the primary point of contact between customer teams and internal engineering and project teams.
  • Lead and coordinate large installation teams of approximately 30-60 people, including customer personnel, external installation crews, and internal engineers.
  • Manage project milestones and timelines, monitor progress closely, and escalate scheduling concerns or risks to project leadership as needed.
  • Address and resolve real-time issues that arise during installation, ensuring minimal disruption to project schedules and customer operations.
  • Document delays caused by external factors, clearly record their impact on the project, and report them promptly to the project manager.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports for paid support, clearly distinguishing between warranty work and billable hours for customer transparency.
  • Assist with vendor tooling approvals, ensuring that tooling meets project requirements and aligns with customer expectations.
  • Participate in project runoffs when possible, supporting system validation, testing, and acceptance activities.
  • Coordinate and maintain productive, professional working relationships with external installation crews to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Review weekly support reports, verify job numbers and detailed work descriptions, and file them accurately; summarize key points and share with project leadership.
  • Submit daily activity summaries within 24 hours, providing clear updates on progress, issues, and completed tasks.
  • Help maintain and update the Open Issues List, tracking open items, resolutions, and follow-up actions.
  • Communicate customer-raised concerns and issues promptly to the project manager, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools to document activities, track project status, and prepare reports and summaries for internal and customer stakeholders.
  • Support a culture of safety, professionalism, and collaboration while working in manufacturing environments and customer facilities.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience overseeing equipment installations, preferably in manufacturing or automation environments.
  • Hands-on experience with installation of automation equipment and systems.
  • Experience working with powertrain-related equipment, including systems used in engine and transmission manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in automation environments, including robotics, machining, and related manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working in manufacturing environments, particularly within automotive or similar industrial settings.
  • Project management capabilities, including managing timelines, milestones, and coordination of cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and project tracking.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate large teams, including customer personnel, external crews, and internal engineers.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Ability to document delays, issues, and activities clearly and accurately, and to produce detailed support and activity reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field is preferred.
  • Experience with automation systems in automotive manufacturing environments is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with robotics, machining, and complex manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with vendor partners on tooling approvals and project runoffs.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with external installation crews and customer teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage open issues lists, support reports, and daily activity summaries.

Work Environment

The Installation Manager works primarily at customer facilities, with an estimated travel requirement of 70-80%. Customer locations are typically manufacturing plants where heavy equipment is being installed, tested, and operated, including large-scale automation lines for automotive production. These environments involve active manufacturing operations, heavy machinery, and large project teams, requiring consistent attention to safety and coordination. The role involves frequent, direct interaction with customer personnel, external installation crews, and internal engineering and project teams. Approximately 30% of the time is spent at the company's main office, collaborating with internal teams, tracking project status, and completing documentation and reporting tasks. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

401k , health care... added PTO days for any weekend days worked . Company profit sharing involved into their 401k plan. Bonus paid out depending on company performance.
