Position Summary

Mechanical Concepts is seeking a motivated Inside Sales Engineer to join our growing New Orleans / Metairie operation.

This is a technical estimating position focused on reviewing construction plans and specifications, selecting commercial HVAC equipment, preparing estimates and proposals, and supporting commercial and industrial construction projects.

The position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with engineering applications, project estimating, and business operations while helping build a growing division.

No previous HVAC industry experience is required. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Analyze construction plans and specifications for commercial mechanical systems.
• Select appropriate HVAC equipment and develop optimized project solutions.
• Prepare accurate pricing, estimates, and detailed proposals.
• Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors regarding equipment selection, pricing, and availability.
• Communicate with contractors, engineers, manufacturers, and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate and organized projects, quotation, and bid documentation.
• Provide technical support for customer inquiries and ongoing projects.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
• Develop technical product knowledge through ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (any discipline).
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and computer skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Strong academic performance or demonstrated work ethic preferred.
• No prior HVAC industry experience required.

Training & Development

Mechanical Concepts provides comprehensive training in commercial HVAC equipment, technical estimating, equipment selection, and project coordination.

The position offers hands-on experience with commercial mechanical systems, exposure to the technical and business sides of engineering, and opportunities for career advancement.

Within the first year, the successful candidate is expected to develop the skills needed to independently manage quotations and establish working relationships with contractors and engineers.

PAY & INCENTIVES

• Bi-weekly pay and overtime as required

PAID VACATION

10 days (80 hours) of paid vacation annually for employees in their first through fourth full years of employment. Unused vacation may be carried over to the following year in accordance with company policy.

EARNED PTO

• Employees begin accruing PTO after a 90-day waiting period.

• PTO accrues at 4 hours (0.5 day) per month, beginning the month following completion of the 90-day waiting period.

• Employees may earn up to 6 days (48 hours) of PTO annually, based on eligibility and accrual.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

• Health insurance available after 90 days of employment.

• Mechanical Concepts pays 50% of the medical insurance premium for employee or family coverage.

RETIREMENT & PROFIT SHARING

• 401(k) eligibility after one year of employment

• Company match up to 4%

• Optional company profit-sharing contribution; historically funded
